Dr Luder Whitlock

Orlando Museum of Art

Dr Luder Whitlock is the Interim Executive Director of the Orlando Museum of Art, and until December 2019 was Executive Director of the CNL Charitable Foundation, president of the Willovita Foundation and Excelsis. He is also Minister at Large of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.

After nearly ten years as a pastor, Dr Whitlock joined the faculty of Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in 1975 and in 1978 was appointed president, a position he held for 23 years. Under his leadership, RTS grew from a small regional unaccredited school to one of the most innovative as well as one of the ten largest seminaries in North America, with seven campuses in the US as well as a virtual campus and gateway extension programs in Asia, South America, and Europe.  He was cited in Christianity Today as one of the five seminary presidents most influential on theological education during the last half of the Twentieth Century.

His service to higher education has been rich and varied, including service on the boards of the National Commission on Higher Education, the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, Trinity International University (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), the International Theological Seminary, the International Leadership University, Covenant College, Montreat College, The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, the Association for Biblical Higher Education, and Westminster Theological Seminary. He was president of the International Schools of Theology for several years, Interim President of Erskine College and Seminary and also served as Chairman of Knox Seminary.

For several years, in a successful turnaround effort, he served as executive director/president of The Trinity Forum, an organization that provides learning resources and experiences for thousands of business and professional executives. He also helped establish and served on the board of Lifework Leadership, a highly successful model for training emerging business leaders in cities. 

He has served on the boards of the Sanford-Burnham-Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, the Heart of the City Foundation, the Langham Partnership, and Trinity International University.

Dr Whitlock is a graduate of the University of Florida, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Vanderbilt University.  He and his wife, Mary Lou, have 3 children and 11 grandchildren.
