The Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation was honoured to host Remembering Roger Scruton, an online memorial event marking the one-year anniversary of Sir Roger’s passing.


 On January 12, 2020, the world lost Sir Roger Scruton, named ‘the greatest modern conservative thinker’ by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In celebration of his life, The Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation hosted Remembering Roger Scruton, a special online memorial event on the one-year anniversary of Scruton's passing.

The two-hour event consisted of three sessions:

  • Featuring Jessica Douglas-Home, President of the Mihai Eminescu Trust, and Dr Barbara Day, former Executive Director of the Jan Hus Educational Foundation, with moderator Marion Smith, President and CEO of the Victims of Communism Foundation.



SCRUTON THE MAN

 
 
  • Featuring an interview with Michael Gove, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, led by Peter Robinson, Murdoch Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Hoover Institution and host of Uncommon Knowledge




SCRUTON THE PHILOSOPHER

 
 
  • Featuring talks by Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University, and Rémi Brague, Professor Emeritus of Arabic and religious philosophy at the Sorbonne and Romano Guardini chair of philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with moderator Maurice Glasman, Labour life peer in the House of Lords and senior lecturer in Political Theory at London Metropolitan University
