Dr Samuel Hughes

The Office of PLace

Samuel Hughes is a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, where he is working on the first critical study of artistic modernism using the methods of analytical philosophy.  He was Sir Roger Scruton’s research assistant on the Building Beautiful Commission, having been supervised by Scruton during his undergraduate studies at Oxford.  In the intervening years Dr Hughes read for a B.Phil. in Philosophy at Oxford and a Ph.D. in Philosophy at Cambridge, as well as spending time as a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo, the Humboldt University of Berlin, and the University of Notre Dame.
